Tasked with creating a travel itinerary focused on exploring Japanese heritage sites in the Fraser Valley, we put together an educational post for Tourism Hope, Cascades, and Canyons, the destination marketing organization for Hope, BC and its surrounding areas.
Client: Tourism Hope, Cascades & Canyons (Tourism HCC)
Our Role: Content Writer, Researcher, Itinerary Developer
Services Provided: Content Writing, Website SEO
The Challenge
Tourism Hope, Cascades & Canyons sought to create a meaningful piece of content that would highlight the region’s significant, yet often overlooked, Japanese Canadian heritage. The goal was to produce a self-guided itinerary that was both respectful of the difficult history of internment and celebratory of the community’s resilience and continuing contributions.
The Process
Phase 1: Research and Development
To ensure the itinerary was historically accurate, sensitive, and provided a valuable experience for visitors, my process focused on two key areas: intensive historical research and the creation of a practical, realistic trip plan.
Phase 2: Crafting a Realistic 3-Day Itinerary
The itinerary needed to be geographically logical and genuinely enrich the visitor’s understanding of the culture and history.
The Result
The final post provides a complete, self-guided exploration that transforms a mere sightseeing weekend into an insightful journey through the Japanese narratives that shaped the region. It successfully balances historical weight with practical travel advice, offering a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and nature.
